Sum Swamp is a really fun addition and subtraction game for children ages 5+. This board game provides ample practice in math facts from 1+1 to 6+6 and from 1-1 to 6-6. There is also opportunity for recognizing even and odd numbers. Certain spots on the board reinforce the concept of addition causing you to move forward and subtraction causing you to move backward (like on a number line). There are also two shortcut spaces you may land on. The board and pieces are very bright and children friendly.
Gretchen Thinks: “I like this game because you get to do math facts. I like to be the frog in the game because it is red and red is my favorite color, and frogs are my best friends.” (Age 6)
Walter Says: “I think this game is funny because sometimes you get stuck in the endless loop. I like to be the snake in the game because I like to make him hiss when he gets to the spot where he is supposed to be.” (Age 7)
Daddy Declares: “I like playing this game with my family because it lets me see how well our children are retaining basic math skills while they have fun using them. This game has a lot going on which keeps it exciting and fast paced. It seems like someone is always laughing when we play this game.”
